All Blacks rugby star Sonny Bill Williams meets terror survivors during an emotional visit to Christchurch Hospital

Williams visited several survivors of the Christchurch terror attack, which left 50 Muslims dead.

AFP: All Blacks rugby star Sonny Bill Williams has visited survivors of the Christchurch terror attack in the hospital, which left 50 Muslims dead, in Christchurch Hospital.

Williams, who is Muslim, was joined by fellow All Blacks rugby star, Ofa Tu’ungafasi, and Richmond Tigers player, Bachar Houli.

The trio spoke to survivors and their families during the emotional visit, stopping to take photos and selfies with victims and hospital staff.

Williams was in New Zealand for a memorial service on Friday for the victims of the Christchurch terror attack, held one week after the killings.

He stopped to talk to Ahmad Feroz, a single father of two daughters and one son, who survived the shooting at the Al Noor mosque.

Mr. Feroz’s told Islamic Relief Australia that his children are currently being looked after by his community while he is recovering.

Ziyaad Shah, 47, was another survivor of the shooting at Al Noor and was visited by Sonny Bill Williams alongside fellow All Blacks rugby star Ofa Tu’ungafas.

Mr Shah was of the few survivors that were trapped inside the mosque during the shooting where he suffered from a gunshot to his back and legs.

He was born in Grassy Town, South Africa, and moved to New Zealand 12 years ago with his wife Shamilah and his three daughters, Zakkiyyah, Salaamah and Aadilah, could have a better life.

Williams and Ofa Tu’ungafasi were joined by Richmond Tigers player, Bachar Houli, when they visited survivor  Temel Atacocugu, who was at Al Noor when the mosque massacre took place.

Atacocugu is the director of Asta Painting and Decorating Limited which is located on Colombo Street, St Albans in Christchurch.

Williams also visited another survivor, Nazril Omar, who was about to begin praying at the Al Noor mosque when he started hearing gunshots.

Mr. Omar told Stuff that bodies fell all around him and when he saw the gunman, he stood up to run but was shot in his feet and back.
